Befriending darkness

In modern society, we tend to misunderstand darkness, interpreting it as a lifeless place. Something to fear, a total negation, while in reality, darkness, or uncertainty for that matter, is the place of all things possible; no-thingness, the formless essence of life. It's the womb of creation before consciousness brings something into form. Ironically, when we are afraid of darkness, we are afraid of the deep seat of life itself. Befriending darkness, therefore, is the greatest gift you can give, to yourself and unto the world.
